How These Hispanic Creators Inspire Though Their Brands

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, we are highlighting these Hispanic creators and their powerful platforms. From chefs to lifestyle experts and financial coaches these Hispanic creators use their brands and authenticity to reach and engage with their audiences. Ahead, they share what inspires them to continue to create and work toward their mission.

Xenia Zayas – Chef Zee Cooks

I love making people hungry, but most importantly I love inspiring people to cook. My goal is to make everyone (newbie and experienced chefs) feel confident in the kitchen as though they are the chef in their own homes. This goal drives me day in and day out to create, film, and develop tasty recipes that also connect my audience to their roots. As a first-generation American, my heritage is tied to my ancestors. When my grandmother passed away, I feared that she took with her all of the knowledge and recipes that she had passed on to me. In an effort to never forget, I committed myself to keeping her legacy alive without realizing that I was actually forging my own. Chef Zee Cooks and my various platforms are all about helping others stay connected so that they too can pass on delicious and authentic recipes that evolve with the times. For me, every month that passes is Hispanic Heritage Month because I’m devoted to celebrating our wonderful Hispanic culture.

Cepee Tabibian – She Hit Refresh

She Hit Refresh is a community for women age 30+ who want to break free from a life of routine and finally move abroad.

“My name is Cepee, rhymes with peppy, and I moved from Texas to Spain in 2015 at the age of 35 and haven’t looked back since! My mission is to help other women gain the confidence and clarity they need to move abroad and live the life of their dreams. I do this by creating content and resources for my community–blog, podcast, YouTube, social media, digital book, workshops, online course, annual retreat, meetups–that empower my community to radically change their lives. My community is what drives me to create! I know that the information I provide empowers them to radically change their lives in ways they had only dreamed about. Representation matters. Not only do I want women age 30+ to see that it’s possible to move abroad, I also want to be an example for Latinas–I’m the proud daughter of a Colombian immigrant–who may not have examples of women in their community who are choosing the unconventional path, rejecting the American dream, and preferring to leave the US for a better life abroad.”

What began as an outlet to cope with postpartum depression, Kisha Gulley, set out to create a platform that connects mothers to mental health and parenting resources. In Kisha’s efforts to create meaningful and inspiring content online, she expanded her brand to provide culturally competent support for families of children with autism and bring awareness to the social issues that impact her community and to promote positive images of women of color through self-care and style tips. Being a dynamic voice in the Afro-Latinx community she continues to share her journey through writing.

Mercedes Diane Griffin Forbes – DG Speaks

“As an Afro-Colombiana growing up in the US, I’ve spent my life fighting against limiting expectations. My motto is “living out loud and having my say!” I’m definitely all about living life to the fullest and storytelling, giving voice to the voiceless, and speaking truth to power, while living a life that’s free. My goal is to motivate others to do the same by sharing my world at DGSpeaks.com. For Hispanic Heritage month, I’m highlighting recent accomplishments by Hispanic entrepreneurs and creators impacting our world for the better.”
